“Facture: Break. Make. Believe.” reimagines fragments of mass media to explore the blurred boundary between truth and constructed narrative. Gathering, cutting, and reassembling a month’s worth of newspapers, the project reveals how information is curated, manipulated, and framed as reality. “Facture” transforms familiar media into a new, fictional artefact by isolating and repositioning photographs, magnifying overlooked print textures, and using AI to generate plausible yet disconnected articles. The work examines how editorial choices of what to highlight, omit, or distort shape collective perception, often beneath conscious awareness. Like fragmented memories pieced together into a believable story, “Facture” invites viewers to question the authority of the printed page and reflect on the fragile relationship between fact, fiction, and belief. It is both a research document and a meditation on the hidden structures that govern how we understand the world.
